Japanese Ambassador Masami Tamura visits Trabzon Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç

Japanese Ambassador to Ankara, Masami Tamura, visited Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç to discuss strengthening tourism, trade, and cultural ties between Japan and Trabzon.

During the meeting, Mayor Genç highlighted Trabzon’s historical significance, noting archaeological findings dating back 11,000 to 14,000 years. He also emphasized the city’s role as an educational and health hub, its position on the Silk Road, and its sporting infrastructure, specifically mentioning the brand Trabzonspor.

Additionally, the visit coincided with the ‘Read Japan Project,’ involving a book to be published in Japan in 2025, with proceeds to be donated to Karadeniz Technical University (KTÜ).
