Japanese Ambassador Ono Keiichi takes ritual dips in the Ganga
Ono Keiichi, the Japanese Ambassador to India, participated in traditional spiritual rituals by taking three ritualistic dips in the holy Ganga river in Rishikesh. The visit occurred over the Janmashtami weekend.
Sharing his experience on social media, the ambassador described the event as a “truly unforgettable moment” that provided a “profound spiritual connection” characterized by feelings of “awe, humility, and gratitude.” In addition to the immersion, Ono lit an earthen lamp (diya) on the riverbanks.
Ono Keiichi has been serving as Japan’s Ambassador to India since October 2024. He has frequently used social media to engage with Indian culture, including documenting his experiences with regional cuisines and participating in cultural exchange events.
