Japanese art exhibitions highlight emerging artists and seasonal themes

Gallery58 is hosting the multi‑gallery project “New Generation Perspective 2026” across eight venues in the Ginza‑Kyobashi area. The two‑week program, running until August 1, showcases solo shows by artists under 40, including Yuka Tachibana’s copper‑plate etchings that explore the theme of “affection.” The event features a stamp‑rally, talk sessions and a joint talk on July 25.

At the Kitano Museum in Tokyo, the summer exhibition “Seasonal Calendar – Spring & Summer” runs from May 23 to August 16. The show presents Japanese‑style paintings arranged as seasonal “kigo” (seasonal words), with explanatory labels that link visual motifs to haiku and tanka themes. Visitor activities include a wind‑chime painting workshop and curator‑led talks on selected works.
