Japanese art museums announce summer educational workshops

Japanese art museums are hosting various educational workshops during the summer periods.

The Ashiya City Museum of Art has announced an art study program titled "Manabihaku Room 2026." Scheduled for August 8, 2026, the program includes a workshop on making pigments in collaboration with Holbein Art Supplies Co., Ltd. Participants will learn about the components and mechanisms of color development while creating their own paints.

The Yayoi Kusama Museum is offering a special summer workshop for children titled "Sketch and Words? Convey Your Message!" on August 20, 2025. The program allows elementary school students to observe works from the "Sounds from the Universe" exhibition, engage in sketching, and write messages about their impressions to create original works based on their experiences with Kusama's art.
