Japanese athletes secure multiple medals at Asian Games
Japanese athletes are securing multiple medals at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya. In badminton, Akane Yamaguchi advanced to the women’s singles quarterfinals after winning two matches in a single day, defeating opponents from Iran and Macau.
In table tennis, Hina Hayata and Miwa Harimoto have both guaranteed at least bronze medals in multiple events. Hayata secured her medals through strong performances in both singles and doubles, including a 4-0 victory over former world number one Zhu Yuling. She is set to face China’s Sun Yingsha in the semifinals.
Miwa Harimoto also secured at least two medals after winning her singles quarterfinal against North Korea’s Kim Kum-yong. Harimoto is preparing for a semifinal rematch against China’s world number one, Wang Manyu, seeking revenge for a previous loss in the team competition.
