Japanese authors publish works on historical faith and regional folklore

Recent literary and historical publications in Japan highlight regional heritage and historical struggles. Keiyo Inaba has released a work titled ‘The Faith and Hesitation of Early Modern Kirishitan as Conveyed by Hosokawa Family Documents and Historical Sites.’ The book utilizes historical records from the Hosokawa clan, former lords of the Kumamoto domain, to examine the lives of Christians during the early Edo period who faced the prohibition of their faith.

In Akita Prefecture, poet Seiko Kurosawa has compiled ‘Folklore and Legends of Misato Town.’ The book includes 73 stories related to local shrines, temples, mountains, and water sources, as well as research on local lullabies and the Later Three Years War. Kurosawa collected the material through library research and community interviews to encourage interest in the town's history.
