Japanese automakers lead vehicle durability rankings

A new study by iSeeCars analyzing data from over 395 million vehicles has identified Japanese automotive brands as the leaders in long-term durability. The research evaluated 33 brands based on their probability of reaching 250,000 miles (approximately 402,000 km).

Toyota, Lexus, Honda, and Acura secured the top four positions. Toyota led the market significantly, with a 19.7% probability of reaching the milestone, which is 14.3 percentage points higher than the industry average of 5.4%. In the luxury segment, Lexus ranked first at 14.4%, followed by Acura at 9.5%.

While some mainstream brands like GMC and Mazda showed notable results, several German luxury manufacturers performed lower, with BMW and Audi recording probabilities between 0.3% and 0.5%. Brands such as Jaguar, MINI, and Maserati recorded 0% in the study. iSeeCars noted that reaching this mileage milestone depends not only on brand reliability but also on specific models, production years, and individual maintenance habits.
