Japanese automotive industry faces disruption due to PHP vulnerability
A critical vulnerability in the PHP programming language has caused widespread service disruptions across the Japanese automotive sector. Major manufacturers including Suzuki, Daihatsu, and Subaru implemented emergency maintenance on their certified used car search sites as a preventative measure.
In addition to manufacturers, major used car platforms such as Goo-net and Car Sensor have experienced service interruptions. The impact extends to various sectors, including insurance companies like Tokio Marine & Nichido and Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance, as well as Volkswagen Group Japan and Yanase, which temporarily disabled reservation and inquiry services.
Furthermore, the disruption has affected government-related Open One-Stop Services (OSS) used for vehicle registration and tax payments. While services have been halted to apply security patches, companies have reported that no unauthorized access or information leaks have occurred as a result of this vulnerability.
