Japanese automotive updates: Toyota, Mitsubishi, and Nissan model developments

Several Japanese automotive updates highlight new features and model comparisons in the domestic market.

Toyota has released an updated Yaris Cross GR SPORT. The improved model now includes a larger 10.5-inch display, seat and steering wheel heaters, and Panasonic’s Nanoe X air purification system as standard equipment.

In the pickup truck segment, the Mitsubishi Triton and Toyota Hilux are competing closely. The 2026 Triton features Yamaha performance dampers to improve ride quality and reduce vibrations. Meanwhile, the 2026 Hilux offers enhanced rigidity and advanced technology, including a 12.3-inch display and electric parking brake, positioning it as a reliable, high-torque option.

Nissan is introducing a 100V AC power outlet option for the new Kicks. While the 1500W outlet is useful for outdoor activities and emergency power during outages, opting for it on 2WD models reduces luggage capacity by 76 liters, from 476L to 400L.
