Japanese baseball: Fujinami falters in DeNA debut, Wakui logs 22nd straight win
DeNA pitcher Shin'ichirō Fujinami made his season debut against the Yomiuri Giants at Yokohama Stadium, delivering 94 pitches over three innings. He allowed three hits and three runs, recorded four strikeouts and issued six walks, resulting in a loss for DeNA.
In a separate game, Chunichi Dragons veteran Hideki Wakui, age 40, earned the win in an 8-1 victory over Hiroshima. The win marked his 22nd consecutive victory since his rookie season, joining only a few pitchers with such a streak. Wakui pitched effectively through six innings, giving up one run while the Dragons extended their winning streak to three games.
