Japanese battery firms expand automotive and energy storage footprints
Japanese battery manufacturers are expanding their presence in the energy storage and automotive sectors. GS Yuasa has announced that its EHW4GA lithium-ion battery for vehicles has been adopted for the overseas hybrid models of the Lexus ES, produced by Toyota Motor Corporation.
Separately, PowerX, a rapidly growing energy storage system company, is focusing on increasing large-scale adjustment capacity. The company's president, Masahiro Ito, indicated strategies for cell procurement involving Indonesia and South Korea to support their business expansion following their listing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Growth Market.
