Former AKB48 member Tomomi Itano is facing criticism over a YouTube video filmed in a hotel changing room. While Itano claimed she had permission, The Ritz-Carlton, Nikko stated that while filming in the hotel was permitted, they do not typically authorize filming inside changing rooms. The incident has also raised questions regarding her parenting style and the presence of her young child during late-night filming.

Model and television personality Maki Nishiyama has drawn concern from fans regarding her physical appearance. After posting about a mishap where she accidentally used hair removal cream on her eyebrows, followers noted her extremely thin appearance in recent videos. Nishiyama has previously addressed comments about her weight, stating her physique is a result of her specific bone density, muscle mass, and constitution.
