Japanese cities Ichinomiya and Kumamoto launch summer festivals in July 2026

Ichinomiya city in Aichi prefecture will hold its 71st OriMono Kanshasai Ichinomiya Tanabata Festival from July 23‑26, 2026. The volunteer “LoveTana” program will offer food stalls, mini‑live performances, a rest area and a photo exhibition at Aoi Park and Yume‑Ori Plaza, with tickets available online until July 19.

Kumamoto city will host the “Hi no Kuni Matsuri” from July 31 to August 2, 2026 across the central downtown area. Mayor Kazufumi Ohnishi presented appreciation certificates to sponsoring companies and groups, noting the event’s role in supporting recovery ten years after the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake.
