Japanese cities Uonuma and Kurume unveil September 2026 local tourism events

Uonuma City in Niigata Prefecture released a schedule of September 2026 attractions, ranging from a blueberry‑picking experience at Marie's Farm and a J‑POWER Oku‑Tadami stamp rally to the opening of the Uwappara Cosmos Garden, a morning market in Hori-no‑uchi, a live concert titled "Love in the Snow Country," stargazing sessions at Susuhara Ski Resort, the 14th Uonuma Hand‑Made Market, tree‑climbing at Echigo Herb Garden, a boat tour on the Okutadami River, and various local festivals and onsen activities.

Kurume City in Fukuoka Prefecture announced the 9th Gelato Election running from 1 August to 30 September 2026. Five participating shops – Ichigo Kirari Mino Village, Uokoku, Meikū Kōbō, the Kurume Tsubaki Museum, and Kurenai Bride Sake Brewery – will offer gelato made with locally sourced strawberries, peaches, and other regional produce. Visitors can sample the flavors, collect stamps, and vote for their favorite; winners receive prizes and further promotional events will be held at the Kurume roadside station.
