Tokyo Science Lab Summer Learning Festival Attracts 9,740 Families

A series of summer education events were held across Japan in July 2026. At Tokyo University of Science’s Katsushika campus, the joint “Asobi Manabi Kagaku Lab” festival drew 9,740 children and parents, offering hands‑on workshops from companies such as Seiko, Glico and Mitsubishi UFJ, a special stage with celebrity guests, and a symposium on AI and learning.

In West Ikebukuro, the historic Freedom Academy Asahi‑kan hosted the “Learn Until You’re Old – Summer One‑Day” program with 15 booths covering topics from disaster preparedness to environmental projects, free for families with young children.

Iwaki City’s Children’s Energy Center opened its “Jabujabu” water pool for free water play during the heat wave, while Kyoto’s Seizan Junior College ran a multi‑date open campus with tours and trial classes for prospective students.

Additional school‑focused events included numerous open‑campus and explanatory sessions at Tokyo’s Clarke campus, a nationwide series of middle‑school campus tours, and the Japan Science Museum’s five‑day “Museum Day for Teachers”. All events aimed to provide interactive learning experiences for children and families during the summer holiday.
