Mitsubishi companies announce new sustainability and resource recycling initiatives

Mitsubishi Food has revised its 2030 sustainability goals to include new targets for plastic resource circulation. The company aims to reduce plastic waste by 50 percent compared to fiscal 2024 levels and achieve a 75 percent material or chemical recycling rate for its plastic emissions.

Mitsubishi Electric is also advancing resource security by recovering rare earth elements from discarded air conditioning units. This recycling initiative is intended to reduce the company's need for new procurement of these materials by 35 percent, contributing to a circular economy and resource security in Japan.
