Japanese companies expand mobility and automation services in India
As India and Japan approach the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic relations in 2027, Japanese companies are expanding their industrial and service footprints in the Indian market.
Yamaha Motor is transitioning from traditional manufacturing to a mobility service model in India. Through its ‘Never selling motorbike business’ launched in 2021, the company provides vehicle rentals and operating services to taxi companies, delivery businesses, and employee transportation services. The company currently operates in 13 Indian states with licenses for six more. Yamaha utilizes an IoT system to monitor vehicle status and employs staff to conduct monthly maintenance checks, including GPS tracking and unannounced inspections.
Additionally, Kyoritsu Electric Corporation is focusing on the Indian market by providing one-stop solutions for factory automation. Their technology includes measurement, control, and machine analysis to support production, R&D, and quality management. The company’s leadership noted that the industrial revolution and shifts in the vehicle industry are creating new market dynamics, particularly regarding the integration of AI and robotics in factory automation.
