Japanese companies Gakken and Harksley report quarterly growth
Gakken Holdings reported increased revenue and operating profit for its third quarter ending September 2026. Revenue rose 6.3% year-on-year to 155.9 billion yen, while operating profit grew 14.3% to 5.8 billion yen. Growth was primarily driven by the medical and welfare sector, specifically through its elderly housing business, and the education sector, supported by its cram school operations and contributions from DTP Education Solutions JSC in Vietnam.
Harksley Holdings achieved record-high revenue and profits for its first quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2027. Revenue reached 13.2 billion yen, a 2.5% increase, while operating profit surged 102.9% to 700 million yen. Although its prepared food business saw a decline due to consumer frugality and rising costs, the company’s conglomerate model allowed growth in its logistics, food processing, and store asset solution segments to offset these losses.
