Japanese companies launch new 3D CAD tools for infrastructure and building design

Terra Drone Co., Ltd. has released ‘TerraDuct3D’, a tool designed to support the 3D design of utility tunnels (common utility ducts). This launch follows the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism’s decision regarding the ‘Third Promotion Plan for Undergrounding Utility Lines’, which is expected to increase construction volume for moving power lines underground. The tool automates the placement of pipes based on terrain data, calculates excavation volumes, and identifies design errors, integrating with existing software like AutoCAD and IJCAD.

Separately, Daitec has released ‘CADWe’ll Linx V7’, an updated 3D CAD software specifically for building equipment. The new version features automated piping design for HVAC and sanitary systems, as well as electrical wiring synchronization. It includes specialized check functions to prevent errors, such as detecting components obscured by architectural changes or misplaced wall-mounted parts. The software is designed to support BIM workflows and integrates with various cloud services and point cloud data.
