Japanese companies launch new AI-OCR tools for document digitization

Several Japanese companies have announced new AI-driven document analysis and OCR tools aimed at improving data digitization and knowledge management.

MLism Inc. has launched ‘YomiToku Studio’, a free web-based AI-OCR application. The tool processes PDF and image data directly within the user's browser, ensuring that sensitive information is not transmitted to external servers. It is designed to extract complex structures such as paragraphs, headings, and table cell layouts, allowing users to export results in formats like Markdown, CSV, or searchable PDFs.

Technoa Co., Ltd. has released version 3.4 of its ‘AI Similar Drawing Search’ software. This update enhances AI-OCR capabilities to digitize not only technical drawings but also related documents like estimates and work instructions. By converting handwritten notes and complex layouts into searchable text, the system aims to help manufacturing companies preserve institutional knowledge and facilitate skill succession by making historical context and decision-making data easily accessible.
