Japanese confectionery companies celebrate product milestones
Multiple Japanese food manufacturers are marking significant product anniversaries with new releases and promotional campaigns.
Kabaya Foods has revamped its ‘Sakusaku Panda’ chocolate biscuit brand to celebrate its 30th anniversary. The updated product incorporates rice flour to provide a lighter texture and a gluten-free option, aiming to expand its appeal from children to adults. Following a successful initial launch at convenience stores, the product is expanding to mass retailers with a sales target of 1 billion yen for the half-year period.
Sanshu Seika is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its ‘Pasta Snack’ line through a limited-edition lucky bag (fukubukuro) available via its Sanshu Sohonpo online shop. The assortment includes various pasta snack varieties, low-carb options, food clips, and coupons totaling 2,500 yen. The brand, which utilizes traditional rice cracker frying techniques applied to durum semolina wheat, has undergone several packaging and branding evolutions since its inception in 2001.
