Japanese Courts Hand Down Sentences in Sexual Assault and Skirt‑Filming Cases

He recruited 25‑year‑old Yamamoto Reiya, supplied the victim’s address and gave instructions via smartphone while the perpetrator posed as a water‑meter inspector, entered the home, committed indecent acts and stole ¥10,000. Yamamoto has been sentenced to 12 years in prison; Matsuda’s case is ongoing.

In Oita Prefecture, former cram‑school tutor Tatsuya Ono was convicted for secretly filming teenage girls’ skirts inside a classroom. The Oita District Court sentenced him to one year’s imprisonment, suspended for three years, noting the breach of trust inherent in his role as a teacher.
