Japanese distilleries announce new limited single malt whisky releases
Japanese craft distilleries are launching new limited-edition single malt whiskies.
Kirishima Yokogawa Distillery in Kagoshima Prefecture has announced the release of ‘Single Malt Whisky Kirishima 531’, scheduled for sale via its official online shop starting August 30, 2026. The whisky, priced at 13,500 yen, is a blend of spirits aged in Mizunara, Sherry, and red wine casks. It features an alcohol content of 53.1% and utilizes natural water from the Kirishima mountain range.
In Nagano Prefecture, Komoro Distillery will release its first single malt, ‘KOMORO ORIGIN’, on November 7, 2026, with an initial limited run of 4,000 bottles. To celebrate the launch, the distillery will host a series of events including ‘KOMORO = KANPAI’ and ‘KOMORO FIRST RELEASE WEEK’ from November 6 to November 15. The festivities will include special talk sessions featuring industry experts such as Charles Maclean and Caroline Lennon.
