Japanese eateries Kitchen Ten (Akita) and Gusto Kuragano (Takasaki) close in 2026
The western-style restaurant Kitchen Ten in Akita City's Sannō district announced it will cease operations after its lunch service on 31 July 2026. The closure follows the long‑term hospitalization of the owner, prompting a difficult decision to shut the popular eatery that opened in December 2021.
Family‑style chain restaurant Gusto Kuragano, located in Kuragano‑cho, Takasaki City, will close on 24 August 2026, according to the Sukairaku Group’s website. The restaurant, part of the Gusto brand, has been a local favourite alongside the adjacent Shabu‑ya restaurant.
Both closures affect local patrons who frequented the venues for affordable Western meals and family dining, and they reflect broader challenges faced by regional restaurant operators in Japan.
