Japanese elementary schools conduct field trips and inquiry learning

Students at Nihon University Fujisawa Elementary School participated in autumn field trips. Fifth-grade students visited Kamakura to deepen their knowledge of the Kamakura period, visiting Tsurugaoka Hachimangu and engaging in independent group activities. Sixth-grade students visited the Miraikan (Science Museum) and the National Diet Building, where they participated in a special House of Councillors program to experience a mock Diet session.

At Seto SOLAN Academy, fourth and fifth-grade students began a new phase of inquiry-based learning. The students were reorganized into theme-based groups rather than traditional classes to encourage cross-grade interaction. The session focused on the concept of innovation through combining unrelated fields, using the example of crayons made from vegetable waste, and encouraged students to apply similar cross-disciplinary thinking to their own scientific research projects.
