Japanese energy firms launch new battery optimization and aggregation tools

Japanese energy technology companies are introducing new solutions to optimize battery storage and aggregation services within the electricity market.

Tensor Energy released a white paper based on 17 months of market data analyzing “negative-positive operation” for batteries in Japan’s primary frequency control (FCR) market. The study found that this operational method outperformed discharge-only bidding across all analyzed areas and months. Specifically, revenue increased by 31% for standalone batteries, 45% for low-voltage solar-coupled batteries, and up to 60% for high-voltage solar-coupled batteries.

Meanwhile, Bluefield Energy has launched “BF Cloud Agri,” a SaaS platform designed to reduce the operational burden on energy aggregators. The system supports solar power plants and grid-scale storage by automating demand and generation forecasting, bidding strategies, and settlement processes. Bluefield Energy also offers an aggregation outsourcing service to assist businesses in managing complex tasks such as night and weekend monitoring and regulatory submissions.
