Japanese experts advise on summer body odor control and fragrance use
Male‑beauty researcher Gakugaku Fujimura and fragrance adviser MAHO detail how men can manage summer body odor by using deodorants and applying perfume to concealed areas such as the sides of the torso and the back of the thighs, recommending products like Tom Ford’s Blood Orange and Hermès Coral Reef. They stress applying perfume to bare skin before dressing and avoiding over‑spraying the front of the body.
Japanese doctor Shin‑sai Hayasaka explains that the root cause of persistent summer odor is the breakdown of sweat and skin oil by bacteria. He advises a one‑minute morning shower at about 41 °C to wash away overnight skin oil, using warm water rather than cold, and recommends gentle foaming with a nylon cloth only for lather. He cautions against harsh scrubbing or excessive use of soaps, which can damage the skin’s protective barrier and worsen odor.
