Japanese festivals cancelled due to Typhoon 30 and heavy rain

Multiple traditional festivals in Japan have been cancelled due to the approach of Typhoon 30 and expected heavy rainfall.

In Saga Prefecture, the 41st Fuji-machi Fureai Festival, scheduled for October 24 and 25, was cancelled by the organizing committee. The decision was made to prioritize the safety of visitors, performers, and vendors in anticipation of warning-level heavy rain and strong winds caused by a stationary seasonal rain front and the typhoon.

In Kyoto Prefecture, the Kameoka Festival, also known as the Tanba Gion Festival, cancelled its Yamahoko procession scheduled for October 25. The Kameoka Festival Yamahoko Association made the decision following forecasts of inclement weather affecting the old castle town area. Additionally, the Oe-yama Shuten-doji Festival in northern Kyoto was also cancelled due to safety concerns.
