Japanese film ‘Boke Biyori’ to star Shinobu Ohtake and Tomokazu Miura

The 2027 Japanese live‑action adaptation of Yabe Taro’s manga “Boke Biyori” has announced its main cast. Veteran actress Shinobu Ohtake will play the wife Chiharu, while veteran actor Tomokazu Miura portrays her husband Michio, a photographer who cares for his spouse despite her dementia. Pop‑star‑turned‑actor Sakurai Sho joins the film as dementia specialist Dr. Akutsu.

The film is directed by Eiji Uchida, known for “Midnight Swan” and “Night Flower.” Production photographed a first‑look visual of the couple and the doctor, and filming largely took place in November–December of last year, with additional location work in the spring. Post‑production editing is now underway ahead of a nationwide release slated for 2027.
