Japanese film “I Want to Meet You Again on That Starry Hill” releases sequel

The final installment of the hit Japanese franchise, titled “I Want to Meet You Again on That Starry Hill,” opened nationwide on 7 August 2026. The story follows the time‑traveling high‑school student Yuri (voiced by Haruka Fukuhara) seven years after the events of the previous film, exploring her continued love for former suitor Akira and the aftermath of the wartime era. New characters include Chiyo (Natsuki Deguchi) and Lin Ji (Umi Inokawa), whose personal struggles add depth to the narrative.

In an interview, Fukuhara said the film reminded her that everyday blessings should not be taken for granted and expressed hope that younger audiences will learn about the realities of war through the story.
