Japanese Film “Meet You Again on That Starry Hill” Opens Nationwide on August 7 2026

The sequel to the hit romance novel and 2023 blockbuster, the film “Meet You Again on That Starry Hill” will be released across Japan on August 7, 2026. Directed by Kiyohiko Niijiro and starring Haru Fukuhara, Mizukami Koushi, Saika Maeda and veteran actress Chieko Baishō, the story follows Yuri (Fukuhara) who travels from modern day to 1945, meets a kamikaze pilot named Shō (Mizukami), and later encounters a young man reminiscent of Shō in the present, weaving a love tale across time.

Fukuyama Masaharu, who performed the series’ first‑film theme, wrote a new song “Kaikō” for the sequel and personally supervised an “Inspire Movie” video released on July 27, 2026. The video pairs the song’s melody and lyrics with key emotional scenes from the film, highlighting the timeless romance. The theme song will be available for digital download from August 10, 2026. The previous installment earned ¥4.5 billion at the box office and became a cultural phenomenon, setting high expectations for the finale.
