Japanese films selected for 31st Busan International Film Festival
Several Japanese films have been selected for official presentation at the 31st Busan International Film Festival, held in South Korea from October 6 to 15, 2026.
The mystery film ‘Satsujin no Mon’ (The Gate of Murder), based on the work by Keigo Higashino and starring Kento Yamazaki and Kohei Matsushita, will be featured in the ‘A Window on Asian Cinema’ section. The film, which explores a complex 30-year friendship, is scheduled for a nationwide Japanese release on February 19, 2027.
Additionally, the film ‘Uruwashi no Yoi no Tsuki’, starring Shunsuke Michieda, has been selected for the festival’s ‘Open Cinema’ section. This live-action adaptation of a popular manga is set to be released in Japan on October 23.
