Japanese firms display new plating and precision tech at Tokyo's 2026 Mechanical Elements Expo

Sun Kogyo, a plating‑technology specialist based in Nagano, participated in the 38th Monozukuri World Tokyo (Machine Elements Technology Exhibition) held at Tokyo Big Sight from July 1‑3. The company showcased four innovative coatings: an ultra‑high‑hardness chromium plating with Vickers hardness over Hv1800, a PTFE‑composite electroless nickel plating that lowers friction to below 0.1, zinc‑nickel and high‑corrosion electroless nickel coatings that provide roughly 40‑times greater rust resistance and double the corrosion resistance of standard products, and an "Ultimate Matt Black" (UMB) coating whose reflectivity is under 0.5 % for improved sensor and optical performance.

The Ota‑ku Industrial Promotion Association organized a joint booth for 19 local manufacturers, presenting high‑precision machining, unique component technologies and new products. The collective display aims to meet growing demand from semiconductor and electric‑vehicle equipment makers, provide free supplier‑matchmaking services, and highlight the region’s capacity for rapid, customized development. Both exhibitions ran July 1‑3 at Tokyo Big Sight, under the broader "Monozukuri World Tokyo" trade show.
