Japanese food chains launch seasonal sweet potato menus

Major Japanese food chains Mos Burger and Mister Donut are launching seasonal autumn menus centered on sweet potato flavors.

Mos Burger will release its “Hot Osatsu Ball ~Purple Sweet Potato~” starting August 28. This dessert, inspired by Taiwanese street food, features a golden exterior made with Beni Haruka powder and a purple sweet potato filling. The company is also introducing a “Mixed Shake Mitsuimo” made with Anno Imo from Tanegashima.

Mister Donut will launch its seasonal “Satsumaimo Do” donut series on September 2. Now in its eighth year, the product line features five varieties, including Plain, Ishiyaki-imo style, Salt Butter, Crème Brûlée, and Rich Sweet Potato. The donuts have been updated with thicker dough to enhance the fluffy texture of the sweet potato powder used in the recipe.
