Japanese football clubs host clothing recycling drives
Various environmental initiatives involving Japanese football clubs are organizing clothing recycling drives to promote sustainability.
In Sendai, the Ministry of the Environment and the J.League are hosting a “Clothing Rakudeko-katsu Club Battle” during the Vegalta Sendai vs. Tokushima Vortis match on October 17. Fans can bring washed, reusable clothing to a special booth at Yurtech Stadium Sendai. Participants who donate clothes can enter a lottery to win prizes, including signed official match balls and player merchandise. The collected items will be processed through Eco-Vega to support club strengthening funds and other clothing support programs.
In Ehime, the organization Switch Ehime, in cooperation with Ehime FC, will hold a clothing collection drive at Ningineer Stadium on October 25. Donors can bring clean, wearable everyday clothing to a booth located in front of the stadium between 13:00 and 16:00. The collected items are intended for the “Fuku Fuku Meguru” event scheduled for December 5 in Saijo City, which aims to showcase the lifecycle of clothing.
