Japanese footballers' salaries highlighted in European league reports

Recent financial data from Capology has highlighted significant salary disparities among professional footballers, specifically regarding Japanese players competing in major European leagues.

In the Premier League, Leeds United midfielder Ao Tanaka has been identified as one of the lowest-paid players relative to his teammates. Reports suggest his earnings are approximately one-quarter of the club's highest-paid player, prompting discussions regarding potential contract renegotiations as he has less than two years remaining on his current deal.

In the Bundesliga, Ko Itakura of Borussia Mönchengladbach is reported to earn an estimated annual salary of 4.15 million euros. This represents an increase from his previous stints at the club and his time at Ajax, making him the second-highest earner at Mönchengladbach. However, Itakura is currently managing a muscle injury following a difficult start to the season for his club.
