Japanese fragrance brands launch new retail experiences in Kyoto and Tokyo
Japanese fragrance companies are expanding experiential retail and brand presence. HUGONIST Co., Ltd. has announced plans to open a new specialty store in Kyoto designed as a “museum of scent.” The venue aims to offer a sensory experience where customers can view raw materials, learn about various ingredients, and create custom-made fragrances using over 500 types of scents sourced from seven countries. The project will be supported by a crowdfunding campaign on CAMPFIRE starting October 15, 2026.
Separately, Nippon Kodo Co., Ltd. will host a pop-up store at @cosme TOKYO in Shibuya, Tokyo, from October 7 to October 13, 2026. The event celebrates the launch of large-capacity sizes for the fragrance brand KODU. The pop-up will feature interactive “scent diagnosis” sessions to help customers find fragrances that match their current moods and provide various promotional gifts for visitors and purchasers.
