Japanese goalkeeper Ayane Suzuki attracts Aston Villa scouting after World Cup draw

Goalkeeper Ayane Suzuki kept four saves as Japan drew 2‑2 with the Netherlands in the opening group match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Following the game, a scout from English Premier League club Aston Villa watched the match and added Suzuki to its shortlist as a potential successor to Argentine keeper Emiliano Martínez.
