Erika Hara climbs to 5th at Portland Classic
At the Portland Classic held at Columbia Edgewater Country Club, Japanese golfers saw mixed results through the first two rounds. Erika Hara emerged as a top contender, moving up to 5th place at 9-under par after a second-round 66. During the opening round, Hara utilized a unique setup with professional golfer Risa Murata serving as her temporary caddie.
In contrast, Hinako Shibuno failed to make the cut. After starting the tournament in 33rd place, she shot a 73 in the second round, finishing at 2-under par and missing the cut line by one stroke. Defending champion Mana Iwai also missed the cut, finishing at even par.
Other notable performances included Satomi Iwai, who began the tournament in 9th place, and various other Japanese players who either qualified for the weekend or missed the cut, including Yuna Nishimura and Yuria Yoshida.
