This victory marks Hokkai's 14th title and their first in three years, moving them closer to the Senbatsu tournament.

In the Tohoku tournament, Sendai Ikuei High School defeated Hanamaki Higashi 6-4 in a marathon 10-inning game lasting 3 hours and 51 minutes.
