Japan's 2026 Koshien Field Finalized as 22 Schools Secure Berths

The 108th National High School Baseball Championship (summer Koshien) has confirmed 22 qualifying schools as of July 25, 2026. Winners of regional tournaments across Japan earned spots, including repeat champion Matsushogakuen (Nagano) securing its second consecutive appearance, and Hanamaki Higashi (Iwate) achieving a historic fourth straight title. First‑time entrants Ariake (Kumamoto) and Higashi‑Nihon Kokusai Daichōhei (Fukushima) will debut at Koshien.

Regional highlights: Matsushogakuen defeated Tokyo‑based Tōshōdaichi in Nagano; Hanamaki Higashi beat Morioka Daibu in Iwate; Soka High School advanced from West Tokyo; high‑school teams from Shiga, Toyama, Nagasaki, Ishikawa, Gunma, and Tochigi each clinched their prefectural crowns, with notable victories such as Takushoku Red Hill’s comeback win in Chiba and high‑school baseball in Toyama seeing a 4‑year return to Koshien by Takaoka Commercial.

These results complete the national roster for the summer tournament, slated to begin on August 5 at Hanshin Koshien Stadium in Hyōgo Prefecture.
