Japanese High Schools Roll Out AI‑English Integrated Classes

Avinton Japan partnered with Takoka Ryukoku High School in Toyama to deliver a special Information II class that combined AI tools, English language practice, and inquiry‑based learning. Students used AI to organize their ideas and presented their work in English, emphasizing skills such as questioning, expression and collaborative creation.

At Salesio Gakuin Junior and Senior High School, second‑year students Murakami and Takatsu led a follow‑up AI lesson, showing how AI learns from data by training a model to recognize handwritten digits. The session concluded with a discussion on AI ethics led by a religious teacher, referencing the Pope’s encyclical on the technology’s rapid development. Both events took place in late June 2026 and illustrate a growing trend of integrating AI and English into Japanese secondary education.
