Japanese high schools see badminton triumphs and baseball upset in recent tournaments

Yokohama Middle and High School reported a sweep of honors across its sports clubs in June, including a runner‑up finish for the boys badminton team at the Kanagawa prefectural qualifier, a third‑place finish for the girls badminton squad, and a second‑place finish for the boys volleyball team that secures a spot in the Kanto tournament. In contrast, the Akita regional tournament of the 108th National High School Baseball Championship saw the favored Kinasu Agricultural High School eliminated in its opening game, losing 1‑3 to Yokote. The early exit, alongside the defeat of top seeds Akita Commercial and Kazuno, has turned the championship into a chaotic battle for the title.
