Japanese history seminars scheduled in Tsu and Shiga

Various historical seminars focusing on Japanese castle architecture and Sengoku-period figures are scheduled to take place in Mie and Shiga prefectures.

In Tsu City, a lecture titled ‘The Former Tsu Castle’ will be held on September 4, 2026, at the Tsu Region Plaza. The session, led by Professor Emeritus Masayuki Miura, will explore the castle's defensive design and the influence of master builder Todo Takatora, whose techniques were utilized in major fortifications like Edo and Nagoya Castles.

Additionally, Shiga Prefecture will host a free history seminar titled ‘Oda Nobunaga and Castle Towns’ on October 25, 2026, at the Azuchi Bungei Seminarion in Omihachiman City. The seminar will focus on the historical impact of the warlord Oda Nobunaga and the development of castle towns.
