Japanese hot spring resorts expand MICE and convention capabilities

Japanese hot spring resorts are highlighting their capabilities for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) to attract business travelers and large groups.

Hotel Urashima in Wakayama Prefecture, celebrating its 70th anniversary, has recently undergone renovations, including the opening of the Nissho-kan facility. The hotel features the ‘Houou’ convention hall, which can accommodate up to 360 people in a theater style, and various banquet rooms for groups of 8 to 160. New amenities include an underwater-themed stand bar.

In Shizuoka Prefecture, Dogashima New Ginsui offers ocean-view facilities in the Izu region. Its primary convention hall, ‘Ginrei’, provides views of Suruga Bay and can be partitioned for different meeting needs. The resort features 123 ocean-view guest rooms and banquet facilities capable of hosting up to 200 people, specializing in local seafood and regional cuisine.
