Japanese hotels launch seasonal Christmas afternoon tea menus

Several Japanese hotels are introducing seasonal Christmas afternoon tea menus.

Shangri-La Tokyo will host a Christmas afternoon tea at The Lobby Lounge starting December 1. The menu features festive sweets such as strawberry mousse maple cakes, cinnamon macarons shaped like reindeer, and matcha roll cakes designed to resemble Christmas trees. Savory options include clam chowder, truffle-flavored cauliflower mousse, and red king crab Christmas wreath arrangements.

In Kyoto, Mercure Kyoto Station’s restaurant, TRATTORIA M KYOTO, is offering a Christmas afternoon tea from November 1 to December 18. The menu combines Italian influences with holiday sweets, including white chocolate and framboise mousse, espresso jelly using illy coffee, and gorgonzola cheesecake. Guests can also choose from four types of mini pizzas and enjoy specialty organic teas from amusu tea.
