Japanese housewife reacts to husband's strict household budget
A woman in her 30s shared an account of her struggle with household finances and her husband's demands for extreme frugality. After resigning from her job to become a homemaker at her husband's request, she was allocated only 40,000 yen per month for all living expenses.
The woman reported that while she was expected to manage the strict budget, her husband continued to spend money on luxury items such as expensive wine and fishing equipment. When she expressed that the budget was insufficient, her husband blamed her management skills. In response, she decided to implement her own form of frugality by washing clothes with only water and preparing very simple meals for his work lunches.
