Japanese junior athletes achieve success in tennis and golf

Japanese junior athletes are making strides on both the tennis and golf circuits. Tennis player Risa Kamigami, winner of the All Japan Junior Tennis Championships (U-16), shared insights following an excursion to the IMG Academy. During her time there, she received technical advice from Kei Nishikori, who encouraged her to focus more on her forehand. Kamigami plans to attend a university in the United States this September to continue her development toward a professional career.

In golf, Jeon Jae-woo, a first-year student at Sakushin Gakuin Junior High School, finished tied for 12th in the boys' 11-12 division at the FCG Callaway World Championship held in Palm Springs, California. Jeon was the top-performing Japanese player in the tournament. While he did not secure a seed for next year by finishing in the top six, he expressed a desire to qualify for the event again next year.
