Japanese macaques attack resident in Yugawara

A group of Japanese macaques, identified as the T1 troop, recently attacked a 40-year-old resident in Yugawara, Kanagawa Prefecture. The incident occurred in the morning near a tourist inn, where approximately a dozen primates cornered the individual and inflicted multiple bites on his hands.

The victim was transported to a regional medical center for specialized treatment and preventive prophylaxis. Local authorities have noted increasing aggression and frequent incursions by this specific troop into urban areas. The macaques have been observed entering residential zones, forcing open windows and doors, and entering hot spring facilities to steal food.
