Japanese manufacturers lift product prices as input costs surge

North‑East Tōyō Fiber Co. announced a price revision for all products produced at its Fuji and Numazu plants, citing ongoing spikes in fuel, electricity, chemicals and pulp costs. Effective 1 June 2023, special‑paper items will rise by more than 15% and fiber products by about 12%.

Azuma Industries’ OSTRICH brand also issued a price‑increase notice, effective 1 Oct 2022, attributing higher raw‑material and logistics expenses to the change. New prices include ¥880 for the Zubon Clip B (up from ¥759) and ¥5 720 for the Smart Twin Pack (up from ¥4 950). Both companies seek to pass rising production costs onto customers.
